(the dictionary definition of the greek word “katharsis” is “purification or cleansing”. in english “catharsis” is the “process of releasing and thereby providing relief from strong or repressed emotions”.) what better word is there to describe the philosophy of the p.i.g. movement? a few days later i purchased the hole in one impact swing trainer. you may want to know what has happened in the six months since my catharsis. well, i have abandoned totally all the technical swing thoughts built up over the many years of toil on the golf course. as a result, golf is now a game of fun and fitness for me, so much so that on several occasions in the last few months i have resorted to carrying my clubs and have felt “as fresh as a daisy” at the end of 18 holes. as a senior golfer of 75, i can’t stress enough the importance of the physical and mental wellbeing generated by p.i.g.’s philosophy. granted i’m still hitting my fair share of inconsistent shots and my handicap (28) has not improved but after 50+ years in the wilderness, i recognise it may take a little more time to make progress on scoring. my most memorable achievement since february occurred 4 weeks ago on 2nd july when i “flushed” a 5 iron onto the green of one of my “problem” holes, to discover that i had my first ever hole in one! i’m now considering whether to attend one of the p.i.g. one day courses or have a 9 holes course management program to learn how to improve my scoring. i’d appreciate your thoughts on the matter. many thanks to you and all the team at p.i.g. for my catharsis. richard johnson, uk i grew up and started playing golf in england and had a few early lessons from norman sutton at exeter g&cc. i have now been playing golf for over 70 yers and finding your ideas on youtube and after reading your book i was delighted to find another way to play, more relaxed and resulting in a much more fluid and full swing. after practising the danse for a week, i took it to the course and have been amazed at the change in my game, for the better. for the first time, i have been able to make the target my thought and not think about swing mechanics. i am going on 85 and like most seniors have lost distance, even while playing and walking at least 3 times a week april thru november. even with only a few games using a relaxed swing and lots of body movement, i am seeing distance gains and more accuracy. as the season here is coming to a close i will continue to do the danse through the winter and look forward to starting to put your methods into practice in earnest come spring. thanks again for opening my eyes to another more relaxed way to play and think. i wish you and your associates every success. tony bumstead, ontario, canada hello brian sparks et al. first of all, thank you for writing positive impact golf. frankly, i expected it to be no different from the many how to golf books that will now, forever more, gather dust. i am 82 years old. after practicing la danse du golf the results were amazing, flight & straight. no aches or pain, just the pleasure of seeing the results. wish you had written your book many years ago!! thank you, george groskopf, wisconsin, usa brian, i am 74 now and using your method. i am playing better than i ever have. i
